COVID update – 30th March 2021

Posted on March 11, 2021 | by Admin User

From 2nd April, advice to stay at home will be replaced by guidance to “stay local”, and from the 5th April, we will move into a revised Level 4 with updated guidance available from Scottish Golf – here.

Everyone should note that these changes do not impact the current guidance on group numbers which are:

  • Golf courses with a designated COVID Officer can permit organised golf for members who live within the local authority area. Play can take place in four-balls with no restrictions on the number of households.

  • Golf courses without a designated COVID Officer, or where members are crossing a local authority boundary to play, can remain open for play with a maximum of four players from two households.

It is important to note that all other dates set out in the updated guidance grid remain indicative at this stage and are subject to final confirmation from Government closer to the time. However, we feel it is essential to give our members, guests and visitors as much advanced notice of proposed changes at each level to help with their decisions and changes ahead of time.

In recent weeks Scottish Golf have received queries about some traditions of our game, such as removing the pin – The current public health guidance remains the same – these should be left in during play. We expect some of the measures introduced at the start of the pandemic to be with us for some time yet, and we will continue to keep clubs updated on these elements.

For now, we encourage all members and golfers to play their part in adhering to the latest guidelines so that everyone can continue to benefit from playing golf in an environment that is as risk-free as possible.

We thank all members and golfers for your continued support during these challenging times. By continuing to adhere to the guidance in place, we are making progress out of lockdown, and these gradual steps back to something much closer to normal, are down to the collective effort of our whole community.

COVID Restrictions

Posted on November 27, 2020 | by Admin User

Please note that Moray has now moved to COVID Lockdown or enhanced Level 4 (Stay at Home), with new guidance to stay at home except for essential purposes.

An updated table summarising the rules for the current lockdown period (Level 4 – Stay at Home) can be accessed here and are effective immediately – advice from Scottish Golf is as follows:

  • Golf courses can remain open for play with a maximum of two players from up to two households
  • Outdoor coaching will be restricted to 2 people (including the coach) for those 12 years or over. Under 12s do not count towards the number so a coach can take larger groups of up to 30 U12s
  • Golfers must stay close to home, travel only for essential purposes (which includes golf as part of the permitted exercise activities) and in line with the new legislation

As with all of our COVID-19 guidance, this is subject to further change which can take place at short notice. Should any changes take place, we will inform via our Website as soon as possible.

Scottish Golf has asked that all golf clubs and golfers adhere to the new guidance with the same spirit and integrity that has been shown throughout the last year to ensure we can all continue to benefit from playing golf through this new period of restrictions.

You can stay up to date on all the latest information on the Scottish Golf dedicated COVID-19 page here.
